Around 9 a.m. April 6, 2018, messages from concerned parents began posting throughout social media about a school threat at San Tan Valley's Combs High School.
The Pinal County Sheriff's Office was immediately contacted and later determined that the threat was actually made at Clovis High School, also known as CHS, and no threats had taken place at Combs High School.

Dear Combs High School Community:
This morning the administration of Combs High School was made aware of a potential threat to our school. The administration immediately contacted the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office to inform them of a social media post; this causes a natural concern about student safety. Through the investigation process, it was confirmed that a student in Clovis, New Mexico was arrested for making a school threat to his school which is also referred to as CHS. PCSO confirmed that this was not an actual threat to Combs High School. We appreciate our partnership and support from PCSO. We here at Combs High School take safety of our students and staff seriously and want to offer a proactive approach to our families to let you know the health and welfare of our school community always comes first.
We are committed to providing the safest possible learning environment for all students and staff. With the collaboration of home, we support an open line of communication where families and the school partner together to support students with their educational goals. Please have a conversation with your children about appropriate use of social media and how to report issues if one were to arise.
Thank you for your support of Combs High School.
